Penny Ingham

Penny Ingham was born and raised in Yorkshire where her father instilled her with a love of history from an early age. Family holidays were invariably spent walking up Iron Age hill-forts accompanied by stirring stories of the Roman attack and the valiant defence by the natives. Consequently, Penny has a degree in Classics and a passion for archaeology. She has had a variety of jobs, including theatre PR and BBC Local Radio. Marriage to an RAF helicopter pilot led her to Germany where she worked as a TV critic for the British Forces newspaper. Her first novel told the story of Elflaede - the daughter of King Alfred the Great. The Historical Novel Society described it as: "a pacy, engaging, enlightening and huge enjoyable novel." Penny now lives in rural Hampshire with her husband and two children. She is currently writing a trilogy set in Dark Age Britain.
