Helen Lederer

Helen is probably best known for her role as the dippy Catriona in Absolutely Fabulous. She created the Girl at the Bar in the BBC comedy show Naked Video and is known for her unique wit and observational humour.

A comedy writer with an extensive portfolio that includes writing and performing her own material, not only as a stand-up comedian but also as a comedy novelist with her comedy novel ‘Losing It’ being  nominated for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize which is poised to be made into a screenplay. Stand-up comedy mixed with a literary profile is one of Helen’s favourite combinations - alongside acting, writing and inventing the wheel… she is a contributor to various respected publications including the Spectator and The Telegraph. Helen is also a sought-after panellist and commentator.

She has starred in a great number of top TV comedy and radio shows and much to Helen’s surprise, her recent appearance in Celebrity Big Brother led to her being saved by the public vote three times affording her the very temporary title of “national treasure”.

She is currently writing her memoir and in 2019 launched her brainchild - Comedy Women In Print - a major publisher, HarperCollins offers a publishing deal to the previously unpublished winner. Helen created the prize to celebrate and support female comedy writers and she is now supported by best selling novelist Marian Keyes. This prize will bring forward the next generation of female talent as well as shine a light on women who have an established a comedy writing career.
